Bingo traces its roots back to the Lo Giucco del Lotto D’Italia which is the Italian National Lottery from the fifteen hundreds. The very popular game, opposed by the Catholic Church, evolved into two versions of bingo, the British and the American version. The British version is played on rectangular pieces of papers called tickets that are nine columns by three rows. Each row has five numbers in it with the rest of the space left blank.
A regular UK online bingo consists of one line with the special games being two or three lines. While the British version of the game is based on ninety numbers, the American version is based on seventy-five numbers. The American version is played on a five-number by five-number grid with the letters of the word bingo across the top. There is a free space in the middle of the card, which corresponds to the middle of the N column. A regular bingo consists of a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line and sometimes the four corners depending on the house rules.
The seventy-five number version with its square grid lends itself to the making of various patterns which are different numbers, letters and shapes that can be made. These patterns are usually the object of special games although many online sites offer sessions consisting of nothing but various patterns. The American version of the game offers more variety than the British version of the game does. the internet casino players who like playing patterns must select a website that offers the American version of the game. |
